Faith-based Christian Counseling for Individuals in Centennial, Colorado

Christian Counseling

Faith can be a source of strength, comfort, and guidance, but it can also bring questions, doubts, or feelings of conflict when life feels overwhelming. Christian counseling offers a space to explore these struggles while addressing your emotional and mental health.

In counseling, I blend evidence-based therapeutic approaches with Christian values, creating a supportive environment that honors both your spiritual journey and your emotional well-being.

Sessions can include prayer, scripture, or spiritual reflection if that feels meaningful and helpful for you, always tailored to your comfort level.

Common Topics in Christian Counseling Include:

Christian counseling can address a wide range of emotional, relational, and spiritual concerns. Common topics include:

  • Faith and Life Challenges: Exploring how your beliefs shape daily decisions, coping, and personal growth.
  • Anxiety and Depression: Addressing symptoms of anxiety and depression with both evidence-based therapeutic strategies and spiritual grounding.
  • Grief and Loss: Finding hope, meaning, and healing after the death of a loved one or other significant loss.
  • Marriage and Relationships: Providing faith-informed support for couples, families, and important relationships (spouse/partner sessions are available on a case-by-case basis).
  • Life Transitions: Navigating career changes, parenting challenges, or identity shifts with guidance rooted in your values.
  • Spiritual Questions: Working through doubt, disconnection, or a desire for deeper meaning in your spiritual journey.
  • Prayer and Scripture: Integrating prayer, reflection, or scripture study as desired by the client.
  • Boundaries and Self-Worth: Understanding your identity and personal worth through the lens of both faith and emotional health.

Each session is tailored to your unique needs, providing a safe and compassionate space to explore both emotional well-being and spiritual growth.

My goal in therapy is for you to see and feel growth through the process.

We have moments where you see how you respond and feel differently than before, and you continue to make choices that create a more meaningful life.

You will be able to look at every version of yourself, which I’ll explain in our first session what versions I mean. You will look in the mirror and like what you see.

Intentional Honesty: We live in a time where things are often filtered or watered down. We’re sometimes too ashamed to be honest and truthful. I take a lot of pride in gaining your respect and trust for our therapeutic relationship. And when the time comes, and it always does, I will be honest with you to help you experience breakthroughs and create the change you want in life.

I’ll be there with you… step by step.

It can be scary to admit you need help, but you can acknowledge that you want more and want to see how to get more. I can help you see that and do it in an honest, intentionally inspiring way.

Imagine waking up rested and optimistic about what the day has to offer!

Christian Counseling FAQs

What Is Christian Counseling?

Christian counseling integrates psychological support with Christian faith and values, offering a holistic approach to emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It provides a safe space to explore life challenges, emotional struggles, and spiritual questions while honoring your beliefs. Sessions may include spiritual reflection and biblical references, if desired, always tailored to your comfort level.

How Is Christian Counseling Different From Regular Counseling?

The primary difference is perspective. Christian counseling integrates your faith and values into the therapeutic process, while still using evidence-based techniques to address emotional and mental health concerns.

Sessions may include scripture, biblical references, or other faith-based practices if desired, creating a holistic approach that honors both your spiritual journey and emotional well-being.

Do I Have to Be a Christian to Receive Counseling?

No. Counseling is open to anyone, regardless of faith background. While I can integrate Christian principles, scripture, or prayer into sessions if desired, you do not need to share the same beliefs to benefit from therapy.

The focus is always on supporting your emotional well-being in a way that feels meaningful and comfortable for you.

What if I’m Struggling With My Faith?

Struggling with faith is a normal part of life, and counseling can provide a safe, supportive space to explore questions, doubts, or feelings of spiritual disconnection. Together, we can navigate these challenges with understanding, helping you process emotions, clarify beliefs, and find ways to reconnect with your spiritual journey in a way that feels authentic to you.

Will You Impose Beliefs on Me?

No. Counseling at Penrose Counseling is entirely client-centered. Your values, beliefs, and comfort guide every session. Any integration of faith, or scripture is offered only if it aligns with your goals and preferences — nothing is ever imposed.

Can We Include Prayer or Scripture in Sessions?

Yes! If it feels meaningful to you. Some clients choose to integrate prayer, scripture, or other spiritual practices into their sessions, while others focus solely on evidence-based counseling strategies.

I work with each client to find a good balance that fits their needs and comfort level – there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every session is tailored to you.

Do You See Couples and Families?

I focus primarily on individual therapy. In some cases, I may include a spouse or partner in a session, but only when it is directly supportive of the client I am working with and the involvement is minimal. This ensures that the therapy remains focused, personalized, and effective for the individual’s needs.

Do You Work With Children and Teens?

My practice focuses on adults, and I do not see clients who are 16 years old or younger. I do, however, occasionally include spouses or partners in therapy sessions on a case-by-case basis, but I do not provide couples therapy. This allows me to provide focused, personalized support for each individual while maintaining a safe and effective therapeutic environment.

How Long Are Sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. For clients who may benefit from a shorter or longer session, I also offer 30-minute sessions or extended sessions when appropriate. This flexibility allows us to tailor each appointment to your needs and schedule.

Do You Offer Telephone or Video Chat Sessions?

Yes! I offer teletherapy and video counseling sessions for all services provided by Penrose Counseling to residents of Colorado. Because I am licensed in Colorado, I can provide telehealth services to anyone within the state, but I am not currently licensed to offer therapy in other states.
