Therapy for Women & Mothers in Centennial, Colorado

Therapy for Women & Mothers

Being a woman often means carrying many roles: partner, mother, daughter, professional, caregiver. The weight of these responsibilities can leave little room for your own needs, leading to stress, exhaustion, or a sense of losing yourself.

Therapy for women and mothers offers a supportive space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with who you are outside of the expectations around you. I provide counseling in Denver and online across Colorado to help you find balance, clarity, and strength in the midst of life’s demands.

Common Topics in Women’s Counseling Include:

Counseling for women and mothers supports growth, self-care, and resilience through life’s unique challenges. Common areas of focus include:

  • Motherhood challenges – postpartum depression, maternal identity, and parenting stress
  • Work-life balance – managing responsibilities, career transitions, and burnout
  • Relationships – communication, boundary-setting, and partner or family dynamics
  • Life transitions – fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, menopause, and aging
  • Grief and loss – pregnancy or infant loss, caregiving loss, or shifts in life roles
  • Identity and self-worth – reclaiming personal goals, self-esteem, and confidence
  • Stress and anxiety – calming the nervous system and learning coping tools
  • Depression – navigating low mood, lack of motivation, or fatigue
  • Women’s health – addressing hormonal changes, chronic conditions, and trauma recovery

Postpartum counseling supports parents in navigating the emotional, physical, and relational changes after childbirth.

My goal in therapy is for you to see and feel growth through the process.

We have moments where you see how you respond and feel differently than before, and you continue to make choices that create a more meaningful life.

You will be able to look at every version of yourself, which I’ll explain in our first session what versions I mean. You will look in the mirror and like what you see.

Intentional Honesty: We live in a time where things are often filtered or watered down. We’re sometimes too ashamed to be honest and truthful. I take a lot of pride in gaining your respect and trust for our therapeutic relationship. And when the time comes, and it always does, I will be honest with you to help you experience breakthroughs and create the change you want in life.

I’ll be there with you… step by step.

It can be scary to admit you need help, but you can acknowledge that you want more and want to see how to get more. I can help you see that and do it in an honest, intentionally inspiring way.

Imagine waking up rested and optimistic about what the day has to offer!

Women's Counseling FAQs

What Are Considered “Women's Issues” in Therapy?

Women’s issues often relate to experiences tied to gender, identity, and life roles. This can include balancing work and family, reproductive and hormonal health, postpartum adjustment, caregiving responsibilities, relationship challenges, and navigating the expectations placed by society or culture.

What to Expect During Women’s Counseling?

Women’s counseling sessions are collaborative and tailored to your unique needs. Together, we’ll explore the challenges you’re facing, build practical coping skills, and create a supportive space to reflect on your priorities, values, and what matters most to you.

Sessions may include strategies for stress and anxiety management, emotional regulation, relationship support, and personal growth, all designed to help you feel more balanced, confident, and empowered.

What Are Common Reasons Women Seek Therapy?

Many women seek counseling to navigate stress, anxiety, or depression, as well as relationship challenges, fertility or postpartum concerns, and shifts in identity or life roles. Others come simply for a safe, supportive space to reflect, recharge, and prioritize their own well-being.

What to Look for in a Women’s Therapist?

When choosing a women’s therapist, look for someone who creates a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and supported.

A good women’s therapist understands the unique challenges women face across life stages and offers approaches that align with your values, goals, and personality.

It’s important to find someone whose style and philosophy resonate with you, so you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, emotions, and growth.

Can I Bring a Support Person (Spouse, Family Member, Friend)?

I primarily provide individual therapy, focusing on your personal experience and healing. In certain situations, I may allow a spouse, family member, or support person to join a session or two, but this is determined on a case-by-case basis when it will be directly supportive of your therapy goals. This approach ensures that sessions remain focused, personalized, and effective for your needs.

How Long Are Sessions?

Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Shorter (30-minute) or extended sessions are available in certain circumstances to meet client needs.

Do You Offer Telephone or Video Chat Sessions?

Yes, teletherapy and video counseling sessions are available for all services provided by Penrose Counseling to Colorado Residents. Learn more about online therapy sessions or contact me to schedule a free consultation.
