Life Transition Therapy for Individuals in Centennial, Colorado

Life Transition Therapy

Life is full of changes—some expected, others that arrive suddenly. Moving, starting a new job, becoming a parent, navigating divorce, or adjusting to loss can all stir up stress and uncertainty. Even positive transitions can feel overwhelming when they disrupt your sense of stability and routine.

Life transitions therapy offers a supportive space to process these changes, make sense of the emotions that come with them, and build tools to adapt with greater confidence. My approach is collaborative and tailored to your unique situation, helping you honor what you’re leaving behind while also preparing for what lies ahead.

My goal is for you to move through change with resilience and self-trust, finding steadiness even in uncertain seasons. I provide life transitions counseling in Centennial and online throughout Colorado, so you can access support in the way that works best for you.

Common Topics in Life Transitions Therapy Include:

  • Major life changes: adjusting to marriage, divorce, relocation, or career shifts

  • Parenthood: navigating the transition into parenting, the “empty nest” stage, or caregiving roles

  • Grief and loss: coping with the loss of loved ones, changes in health, or shifts in identity

  • Aging and retirement: finding meaning, purpose, and fulfillment in new seasons of life

  • Relationship changes: working through breakups, new partnerships, or changing family roles

  • Identity and self-discovery: reevaluating values, priorities, and goals during times of change

  • Stress management: building coping strategies to handle uncertainty and overwhelm

  • Resilience and growth: practicing mindfulness, grounding, and self-compassion as you adapt

My goal in therapy is for you to see and feel growth through the process.

We have moments where you see how you respond and feel differently than before, and you continue to make choices that create a more meaningful life.

You will be able to look at every version of yourself, which I’ll explain in our first session what versions I mean. You will look in the mirror and like what you see.

Intentional Honesty: We live in a time where things are often filtered or watered down. We’re sometimes too ashamed to be honest and truthful. I take a lot of pride in gaining your respect and trust for our therapeutic relationship. And when the time comes, and it always does, I will be honest with you to help you experience breakthroughs and create the change you want in life.

I’ll be there with you… step by step.

It can be scary to admit you need help, but you can acknowledge that you want more and want to see how to get more. I can help you see that and do it in an honest, intentionally inspiring way.

Imagine waking up rested and optimistic about what the day has to offer!

Life Transitions Therapy FAQs

What is Life Transitions Therapy?

Life transitions therapy provides a safe and supportive space to navigate major changes in your life. Together, we’ll explore the emotions and challenges that come with change, strengthen coping strategies, and help you adapt with confidence and resilience. Whether the transition feels exciting, difficult, or both, therapy offers guidance in finding balance and clarity.

What Are Common Life Transitions People Seek Counseling For?

People often seek counseling during times of change that bring both opportunities and challenges. Common transitions include:

  • Career shifts or job loss
  • Marriage, separation, or divorce
  • Becoming a parent or adjusting to an empty nest
  • Relocating to a new city or community
  • Retirement or adjusting to aging
  • Grieving the loss of a loved one or changes in health
  • Exploring identity, values, or life direction

Therapy provides a steady, supportive space to navigate these shifts and find resilience, clarity, and confidence as you move forward.

Why Can Change Feel So Difficult?

Change—even when it’s positive—can unsettle the routines and comfort zones that make life feel predictable. This disruption often stirs up stress, anxiety, or uncertainty, leaving you feeling off balance. Therapy provides a supportive space to make sense of these emotions, normalize your experience, and develop healthy coping strategies so you can move through transitions with greater confidence and ease.

How Can Therapy Help During a Life Transition?

Therapy offers a safe, supportive space to navigate the uncertainty and emotions that come with change. Counseling provides practical coping tools, emotional support, and new perspectives, helping you adapt more smoothly, grow through the experience, and discover meaning and confidence in this next chapter of life.

When Should I Consider Life Transitions Therapy?

Consider therapy when a life change feels overwhelming, affects your relationships, or leaves you feeling stuck, stressed, or unsure about your next steps. Life transitions counseling can provide support, perspective, and tools to help you navigate change with clarity, confidence, and resilience.

Do You Work With Children and Teens?

My practice focuses on adults, and I do not see clients who are 16 years old or younger. I do, however, occasionally include spouses or partners in therapy sessions on a case-by-case basis, but I do not provide couples therapy. This allows me to provide focused, personalized support for each individual while maintaining a safe and effective therapeutic environment.

    How Long Are Sessions?

Standard therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. For clients who may benefit from shorter or longer sessions, I also offer 30-minute sessions or extended sessions as needed. This flexibility allows us to tailor each appointment to your needs and schedule.

Do You Offer Telephone or Video Chat Sessions?

Yes, teletherapy and video counseling sessions are available for all services provided by Penrose Counseling to Colorado Residents. Learn more about online therapy sessions or contact me to schedule a free consultation.
