Postpartum Depression Counseling
Bringing a new baby into your life can be a great thing, but it can also feel overwhelming, isolating, or different from what you expected. If feelings of sadness, anxiety, or stress linger beyond the early weeks, you may be experiencing postpartum depression or postpartum anxiety.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. Postpartum counseling offers a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space to process your emotions, regain balance, and feel supported both as a parent and as an individual. My approach combines evidence-based strategies with personalized care, helping you build coping skills, restore confidence, and nurture your well-being.
I provide postpartum depression and anxiety counseling in Centennial, the greater Denver area, and online throughout Colorado, so you can access support in the way that works best for your life.
Common Topics in PPD Counseling Include:
- Understanding PPD: distinguishing postpartum depression from the “baby blues”
- Signs and symptoms: sadness, guilt, irritability, fatigue, or feeling disconnected
- Postpartum anxiety: worry, racing thoughts, panic, or intrusive fears
- Impact on motherhood: bonding with your baby, changes in partner relationships, and shifts in identity
- Support systems: managing family expectations, social pressures, and feelings of isolation
- Therapy approaches: evidence-based methods such as CBT, ACT, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation
- Practical coping tools: sleep strategies, self-care planning, and setting realistic expectations
- When to seek help: recognizing when sadness or anxiety goes beyond typical postpartum adjustment
Postpartum counseling supports parents in navigating the emotional, physical, and relational changes after childbirth.
My goal in therapy is for you to see and feel growth through the process.
We have moments where you see how you respond and feel differently than before, and you continue to make choices that create a more meaningful life.
You will be able to look at every version of yourself, which I’ll explain in our first session what versions I mean. You will look in the mirror and like what you see.
Intentional Honesty: We live in a time where things are often filtered or watered down. We’re sometimes too ashamed to be honest and truthful. I take a lot of pride in gaining your respect and trust for our therapeutic relationship. And when the time comes, and it always does, I will be honest with you to help you experience breakthroughs and create the change you want in life.
I’ll be there with you… step by step.
It can be scary to admit you need help, but you can acknowledge that you want more and want to see how to get more. I can help you see that and do it in an honest, intentionally inspiring way.
Imagine waking up rested and optimistic about what the day has to offer!

Postpartum Depression Counseling FAQs
What is Postpartum Depression?
Postpartum depression is a mood disorder that can occur after childbirth. It is characterized by persistent sadness, anxiety, irritability, or feelings of overwhelm that last beyond the typical “baby blues” of the first few weeks. PPD can impact your energy, sleep, relationships, and ability to enjoy parenthood, but it is treatable with support.
What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Postpartum Depression?
Postpartum depression can show up in many ways, and symptoms often extend beyond the “baby blues.” Common signs include:
- Persistent sadness or tearfulness
- Guilt, irritability, or frustration
- Fatigue or low energy
- Difficulty bonding with your baby
- Changes in sleep or appetite
- Feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, or being “stuck”
If these symptoms last more than a few weeks or interfere with daily life, it’s important to seek support. Postpartum counseling can help you manage these feelings, regain balance, and feel more connected to yourself and your baby.
How Long Can Postpartum Depression Last?
Postpartum depression can persist for several months—or even longer—if left untreated. With counseling, support, and appropriate coping strategies, symptoms can improve significantly, and many parents experience meaningful recovery and renewed well-being.
How is Postpartum Depression Treated?
Postpartum depression is often treated with a combination of approaches tailored to your needs. Counseling may include talk therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, and strategies to regulate your nervous system. In some cases, medication may be recommended alongside therapy to support recovery.
What If I have Postpartum Anxiety?
Many new parents experience postpartum anxiety, either alongside or instead of depression. Counseling can help you manage intense worry, racing thoughts, panic, or intrusive fears, and teach calming strategies to support emotional regulation, rest, and confidence in your parenting.
When Should You Seek Therapy for Postpartum Depression?
If feelings of sadness, anxiety, or disconnection are interfering with your daily life, your ability to bond with your baby, or your self-care, it’s a good time to seek support. Reaching out for help is a sign of strength, and early intervention can make a meaningful difference in your recovery.
